around the house
Today I went outside to take a few craft photos, and of course, the girls followed me. It was a little chilly, but not too bad. And then ... Josie spilled a bucket of water ... and instant fun was had by all! I figure wet pants and soaked socks can be changed. The girls had a good time, and then ... it was "run around in just a diaper" time! What kid doesn't love to be naked??

She does cute stuff, too
The other day, after Josie had been quiet for a little too long, I decided to check on her. I found her in her room, on her bed she won't sleep in, playing with her new puzzle from Grandma Dub ... in style! Apparently, play time is better enjoyed in a hat (a gift from Aunt Berta and Uncle Gary).

T-R-O-U-B-L-E
My little beauties are absolute angels, of course. However, occasionally, they have to be rescued from themselves. A few days ago I finally got Josie's new "big girl bed" set up in her room. With the double safety rails, it looks a little like a hospital bed. Oh well. And the room isn't set up in its final configuration, as we still have the crib in there. Every time I ask her where she wants to sleep, she points to the crib. That is where she sleeps, after all. And changing her routine is going to be a challenge. I have a feeling we're going to have to do a baptism by fire to teach her to sleep in her new bed (by simply removing the crib as an option). For now, she considers it a new toy. Her favorite game is walking along the edge like she's walking on a beam ... around and around and around. She's definitely got a little gymnast in her!
Eleanor, bless her heart, isn't quite crawling yet. But man does she get around! She has this completely undignified army crawl / finger pull / toe-push thing going. It isn't pretty, but it gets her around. And she is already getting into everything. I'm finding myself constantly moving her away from all the trouble she finds. I'm dreading the day she's really crawling and can easily get around my relocation efforts.

realization
If you read this blog much, you've read about how I tend to struggle with the tension between getting things done around the house and spending time with my kids. But I've since discovered that I'm not really that concerned about a clean house. I actually leave messes around a lot. I mostly just don't like dishes and laundry to pile up. Those are the never-ending jobs around here. And they don't actually take that much time up each day.

groundhog day
There has been a lot to get used to over the past several months. In December I left my job of nearly five years. I had our second baby. We moved out of my parents' house into a home of our own. For the first time since Josephine was born, I was on my own with the kids ... day in, day out. I no longer have the constant companionship and help of my mom, with whom I lived while Josie was a baby, while I was pregnant with Eleanor, and in those first months after becoming a mom of two. Needless to say, there have been a lot of adjustments of late.
