My Journey through Breast Cancer

On October 11, 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage II Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) ... or as we like to call it, extreme measures for a nap (EMFN). For a while, this blog will be my cancer journal. Enter at your own risk.

Mom's Birthday

On February 20, 2010, my mom turned 60. I know, its hard to believe. She's so young looking! She barely has any grey in her hair! In honor of this most auspicious day, we made sure she got a party to remember. Jon and Julie drove up from San Diego and then we started the day with a big breakfast at home. We spent the afternoon at Camelot playing miniature golf, which was a blast. We took her to Long Beach for a Lebanese dinner, which was wonderful. And when we got back to the house it was full of family for a big surprise party! And she WAS surprised. It was a long full day, but we all had a blast and Mom felt truly celebrated ... which was the goal. Here's too many pictures for your viewing pleasure.

While Amy and I got breakfast ready, Mom played with Josephine (in party dress) who loves to play with her rings.

We had party favors at every plate for breakfast (Valentine's candy is SO cheap when you buy it after V-day).

Julie and Mom golfing ... Maddie standing over the hole making sure she catches the golf balls.

Hans and Amy ... "the pretty ones"

(Hans ... sometimes even pretty people have not-so-pretty moments. Thanks to cousin Caleb for snapping this shot ... sorry to bro-in-law for posting it on the worldwide web.)

Mom golfing.

Dad golfing.

Maddie taking a break.

Amy letting Josephine hold her club.

Amy letting Josephine do some golfing.

Uncle Bob and Cousin Ben ... can you tell they're father and son?

Dad with Lincoln.

The party, playing the games Aunt Joyce prepared.

Joyce leading us in some great games, all about Aunt Judi.

We baked two cakes and then cut them into the shapes of a "6" and a "0." AND we fit 60 candles on the two cakes. It was awesome.

It looks like it was a great party. So bummed we had to miss it! I especially love the picture of my dad and brother - they would just die if they saw it! :)

We ARE the pretty one's. I want that picture, please AND the one of me and Josie golfing.

Um, I can't wait to show Hans the picture of him picking his nose. HYSTERICAL!

It was such a lovely day. We should do it for every birthday . . .
