My Journey through Breast Cancer

On October 11, 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage II Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) ... or as we like to call it, extreme measures for a nap (EMFN). For a while, this blog will be my cancer journal. Enter at your own risk.

our whirlwind weekend

Saturday at 4:30 - Meet at Mom and Dad's to celebrate David's 27th birthday. Happy Birthday David!

Saturday at 6:30 - Quick! Clean up and get the coffee started ... the people are arriving at 7.

Saturday at 7:00 - People begin to arrive for Dad's gallery night, a showing of 25 of his favorite photographs (about 125 people will be walking through the house in the following 2 1/2 hours).

Saturday after midnight - Its been a wonderful evening ... but we should go home and get some rest before another big day tomorrow.

Sunday morning at 8:00 - Why am I awake already? Surely I need more sleep.

Sunday morning at 10:12 - Let's stop at Starbucks on our way to church for a healthy and balanced breakfast of donuts and coffee.

Sunday at 10:30 - I like being at church.

Sunday at 12:15 - Meet David and Rachel at Mom and Dad's to drive to Pasadena.

Sunday at 1:00 - The whole family is together at Jason and Rachel's to say good-bye to Jason, soon leaving for a 7-month tour in Iraq (his second). And Rachel announces she's pregnant! If everything goes well, Jason should be home before the baby is born.

Sunday at 3:30 - Head for home for a few minutes respite before ...

Sunday at 5:20 - Its time to leave for Long Beach.

Sunday at 6:00 - "Hi, we're the Hammers? Are we at the right house?" "If you're here to wait for Hans and Amy, then yes!"

Sunday around 6:20 - Hans and Amy arrive at his uncle's house ... engaged! Her ring is gorgeous, there's more crying than was anticipated, and we spend a couple hours munching on goodies and spending time with the newly engaged and deliriously happy couple.

Sunday at 8:00 - We're a little tired. Maybe we should head home.

Sunday at 9:00 - Wow. I need a day off. We make the decision now not to try and make it to the gym at 5:40 tomorrow morning.

And coming soon .... pictures from all these events ... so stay tuned (see the sidebar on the left for a couple previews).
