My Journey through Breast Cancer

On October 11, 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage II Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) ... or as we like to call it, extreme measures for a nap (EMFN). For a while, this blog will be my cancer journal. Enter at your own risk.

getting the kids together

Three and a half years ago, when Caleb and I got married, none of his friends from college had any kids. Well, a lot can happen in 3 1/2 years, as the pictures below can attest to. Our friends Mark and Lisa were in town this week from Northern California, so a few of us got together, with our kids, to catch up. We had the most fun trying to make all the kids cooperate for a picture.

Mia and Josephine waiting patiently for the other kids to come to the couch for the picture.

Mia and Jo are just three weeks apart in age. They've only met twice, but they're already great friends.

Well, Mia thinks they're great friends anyway ....

At this point, we didn't think a picture would ever happen ...

Gideon didn't want to have his picture taken ... or he wanted to be the only one in the picture, not sure which ...

Here we go ... Mia Hartman, Josephine Weston, Ashya & Gideon Hupp, and Benjamin Haire.

Gideon and Benjamin are only 2 days apart in age.

Ashya's the oldest at 3 1/2. Hers is an amazing story, as she was born when Deb, her mom, was only 25 weeks pregnant. Ashya was under two pounds when she was born and spent nearly three months in the NICU at St. Jude before getting to go home. And look at her now! She's completely thriving.

I leave you with Miss Josephine, the pirate.
