My Journey through Breast Cancer

On October 11, 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage II Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) ... or as we like to call it, extreme measures for a nap (EMFN). For a while, this blog will be my cancer journal. Enter at your own risk.

first baby pics!

We had our first ultrasound today. I'm about 13 1/2 weeks along, at the very end of the first trimester. Risk of miscarriage goes WAY down now, which is nice. And my tummy is now getting noticeably bigger, which is ... not so nice, at least for my current wardrobe. Most of my side effects have waned to almost non-existence. I'm still really hungry all the time (which has me convinced I'm having a boy, but we won't know the truth of that for another several weeks). And I'm still tired a lot, but then, I'm tired a lot when I'm NOT pregnant, so that could be neither here nor there. Otherwise, everything seems to be moving along smoothly. Last week I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time, and then today we got to SEE Baby for the first time, so its starting to become very real for both Caleb and I that we're actually going to have a baby. The prospect is getting more exciting and less scary with each week that passes.
Rejoice with us that all is going well! And pray for us, that all would not only continue to go well, but that Caleb and I would do what we can to adequately prepare for Baby Weston's arrival in June. It seems far away now, but I know the day will be here before we know it.

Our baby looks like an alien in the photos, but we're already quite smitten. Baby's heart is beating fast and strong, and the ultrasound technician says everything looks good. Woohoo! So exciting. Here's Baby Weston's first photo shoot!

Baby's head is right in the middle of this picture, staring at the camera (Baby must already know what's in store for him in life, as far as being photographed goes, and he's resigned himself to his fate). I think he's waving too.

He's just kickin' back here, enjoying his cozy home. He seems pretty relaxed, which is good. We try to keep high-strung personalities to a minimum in our household.

Yeah for you guys! Those first heartbeats and first pictures are always so special. I cried on those firsts with all of my pregnancies. To be able to hear and see that miracle inside of you is absolutely amazing!
